POSITION DESCRIPTION:Â MEDICAL ASSISTANT
Under the supervision of the Medical Office Manager, the Medical Assistant will perform a variety of duties, including performing intake procedures on patients, assisting providers, observing patients and reporting adverse reactions, obtaining specimens for lab analysis, administering tests according to protocol, and following infection control procedures. Â
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform and record vital signs in the patient record.
- Verify and document medical history, patient contact information, current medications, chief complaint, problem list, immunization record, and any additional pertinent information in the patient record at each visit.
- Administer vaccines to both children and adults, including COVID-19 vaccine.
- Collect POC tests, swabs, and perform venipuncture, including lab specimen labeling/preparation and lab result callbacks.
- Assist medical providers in examinations as needed, including performing wound dressing, and visual/hearing screens.
- Administer medications/treatments as ordered by medical provider and document time, amount, and route in the patient record.
- Assemble and correctly use medical equipment including EKG, Spirometer, oxygen suppliers, otoscopes, sphygmomanometer, sterilizers, etc.
- Clean and sterilize equipment/exam rooms.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills and the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patient.
- Demonstrate through understanding of all applicable legal concepts affecting patient care such as HIPAA.
- Ensure exam rooms/equipment are properly cleaned between patients, and practice proper infection control before, during, and after all patient visits.
- Daily, display exceptional communication skills between you, your team, Lead MA, Clinical Nurse Manager, and Medical Office Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalency; Associate’s preferredÂ
- Must be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)Â
